Start by matching your bust, waist and hip measurements to a listed range, not to a brand. If you are in the US 4 to 10 range, the Dritz Twin-Fit and the SINGER Adjustable Dress Form both list that range; the Twin-Fit also comes in petite, medium, large and full-figure sizes. For fitting pants and jackets, the Dritz My Double Designer lists a lockable rolling base and an offsettable pole. The Dritz Sew You is a two-size line, and the Dritz Mr. Tailor is the menswear form. The links above are the smaller sizes; the size table below links every size.

A dress form is a pinnable torso on a stand. It gives you a stand-in to pin, drape and mark hems on. All five lines here are adjustable: dials or wheels expand or contract the torso to measurements you set. This list compares the ranges and features the makers and Amazon listings state. We have not fitted a garment on any of these forms, and nothing here says how closely any form will match a particular body.

How to choose a size

  1. Measure yourself, or the person you sew for. Use bust, waist and hips. Our tape measure guide covers the tape, and our guide to sewing pattern size charts covers why measurements beat the number on a pattern envelope.
  2. Find the row that brackets all three numbers. The listed ranges below are the limits each form can reach. Our rule of thumb is to avoid a form where one of your measurements sits at the very edge of the range, so the form can adjust both ways.
  3. Treat the US size as approximate. The Dritz listings say each form adjusts to “approximate” US sizes. The measurement ranges are the more useful numbers.
  4. Decide what the form is for. Pants and jackets need a pole that can be offset or a base that lets you move around the form. Hemming needs a hem marker.

Size table

Measurements are in inches and come from the Amazon listings for each form, read October 29, 2026. SINGER’s own product pages give the same ranges for its two forms in their product details. SINGER’s FAQ on the same pages lists slightly wider numbers than those details, so confirm the figures with SINGER if you are near the edge of a range.

Dritz Twin-Fit: five sizes from petite to full figure

The Twin-Fit has the broadest size run here. The Amazon listings describe 12 auto-set dials with marked half-inch increments to expand or contract the torso (10 on the petite), a neck adjustment finial, a height-adjustable center pole with a listed maximum height of 64 to 66 inches depending on size, a torso that extends up to 2 inches, a 360-degree adjustable hem marker and a foam-backed surface for pinning. The stand is listed as black and the finish as silver gray. View the Dritz Twin-Fit, small, on Amazon .

Dritz My Double Designer: rolling base and an offsettable pole

The listings describe 12 soft-grip rolling wheels with inch and centimeter markings, a wooden neck finial with a built-in pin cushion, a lockable rolling base and a 360-degree pin hem marker with printed measurements. The center pole can be offset for pants; the small size’s listing gives a maximum height of 65 inches centered and 74 inches offset. It comes in four sizes in our table: petite (US 0 to 6), small (US 4 to 14), medium (US 14 to 20) and full-figure (US 20 to 24). Its small and medium ranges are wider than the Twin-Fit’s equivalents, so one form covers more of the range. View the Dritz My Double Designer, small, on Amazon .

Dritz Sew You: write your measurements on the wheels

The listing describes nine rolling adjustment wheels at the sides and back, two front auto-set dials with half-inch increments, a neck dial, a 360-degree adjustable hem marker and a maximum height of 62.5 to 63 inches. It suggests recording your measurements on the wheels with tape and a fine-tip marker so you can return to the same fit, and using different ink colors when sewing for more than one person. It comes in small/medium (US 4 to 12) and medium/large (US 12 to 18). View the Dritz Sew You, small/medium, on Amazon .

SINGER Adjustable Dress Form: flannel exterior and a hem guide

SINGER’s product pages describe a form with 12 dials, a tool-free height adjustment, a foam-backed fabric exterior that holds pins, a 360-degree hem guide for basting, and basic assembly that needs no tools. SINGER says to turn each dial evenly because of a tension system. It comes in small/medium (sizes 4 to 10) and medium/large (sizes 10 to 18). The page and its FAQ disagree on a few figures, including the dial count (12 versus 13), so check them against the listing for the size you choose. Dritz Mr. Tailor: the menswear form

The listing describes 12 rolling adjustment wheels with inch and centimeter markings, extendable shoulders, a neck adjustment dial, and a pole that can be centered for shirts and jackets or offset for pants. It lists a maximum height of 62.25 inches centered and 72.25 inches offset, a torso that extends up to 2 inches, and a foam-backed surface for pinning. It adjusts to approximate US men’s sizes M to XL. The listing does not mention a hem marker. View the Dritz Mr. Tailor on Amazon .

What this list leaves out

  • Fixed-size professional forms and display mannequins. Many other sellers list them. We did not source maker pages for those brands, so this list does not rank them.
  • Padding kits and other fit-matching accessories. A form that matches your numbers can still differ from your shape and posture. Nothing here tests how closely any form matches a body.
  • Other adjustable brands. We did not source maker pages for other brands of adjustable forms.

Where to buy

All links go to new listings sold by Amazon.com that were in stock on October 29, 2026, except the three marked “limited stock” in the size table, which showed limited stock that day. Dritz sells five sizes of the Twin-Fit and four of the My Double Designer; the table links every size we checked.

Method and limits

This page compares SINGER’s product pages and the Amazon listing text for each form. Dritz’s own pages could not be read, so the Dritz size ranges and features come from the Amazon listings alone. It does not test adjustment, stability, pin holding or accuracy, and it does not establish that any form fits any body.

Questions before buying

What size dress form do I need?

Pick the form whose listed bust, waist and hip ranges include your measurements, ideally with room on both sides. The size table above lists the ranges. The US sizes are approximate, so the measurements matter more.

Can I pin fabric to a dress form?

Yes. SINGER’s page says the foam-backed fabric exterior lets you pin dresses, skirts, tops and patterns, and the Dritz listings describe pinning fabric through a foam-backed surface.

Do these forms mark a hem?

The four women’s lines list a 360-degree hem guide or marker, which is the part that turns around the form so you can mark an even hem. The Dritz Mr. Tailor listing does not mention one.
